📚 World Book Day in P7 📚

5th Mar 2026

Today, our Primary 7 pupils had a fantastic day celebrating all things reading! Dressed in their pyjamas and comfy clothes, everyone was ready to relax, get cosy and most importantly – focus on books.

We kicked off the day with a fun and unusual twist on the classic tale of The Gingerbread Man, which certainly sparked lots of laughter and imagination. Inspired by the story, the children then designed and created their own delicious (and very creative!) gingerbread characters.

Each pupil brought in a favourite book from home, and we transformed our classroom into a vibrant Reading Café. While enjoying the cosy atmosphere, the children took turns sharing their stories and asking thoughtful questions about characters, plot twists, key events and recommendations. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for reading and such mature, engaging discussions.

Later, we joined the BBC Live Lesson to help us discover our own unique “Reading Vibe”. The session encouraged us to think about the types of books we enjoy most and why. Using this information, we explored which new titles we would like to add to our classroom library.

To round off our brilliant day, we designed and created our own story cubes, which we are excited to use in the future to inspire creative writing.

A great day was had by all – full of imagination, creativity and a real love of reading! 📚✨
