Assembly, Stars of the Week & Friday Notices (19.09.25)

18th Sep 2025

Today Miss Steele led our assembly, focusing on the beauty of Autumn and the importance of trees. Together we explored seeds, leaves, apples, and different types and sizes of trees – even a special Fairythorn tree.

Miss Steele reminded us just how vital trees are for our lives and our world. We agreed that the roots are the most important part of any tree!

Last year, every class took part in the Avocado Challenge, where each child cared for their own plant. Miss Steele brought her avocado plant to share with everyone – it is thriving! She also showed us another plant that had very few roots, which reminded us of our school motto:

“From strong roots, great things grow.”

Just like trees, we need strong roots – built through listening, working hard, and persevering – so we can grow and achieve great things in the future.

🌟 Congratulations to our Stars of the Week!

Certificates were awarded for:

  • A great start to P1

  • Having an excellent work ethic

  • A brilliant start to Accelerated Reader

  • Achieving 500,000 words already on AR!

Well done to all our stars – we are so proud of you!

🎶 Pupil Success

A huge congratulations to Matthew, who competed in a drumming competition last week. Not only did he come first place, but he has also been awarded a drumming scholarship – what a wonderful achievement!

We also enjoyed a fantastic performance from two of our girls, who are members of the Sperrin Kids Choir. They entertained the whole school with one of their favourite songs, Bungalow. Well done girls – you were brilliant!
