Today our P7 pupils made the most of a dry morning by heading outside for a fun and practical “Measure Up” activity. Working in two teams, the children tackled a series of measuring challenges around the playground. They measured the perimeters, areas and circumferences of different items, carefully selecting the most appropriate equipment and deciding on the correct units to use.
To extend their thinking even further, each team then designed a challenge for the other group, encouraging problem-solving and higher-order thinking skills.
Meanwhile, as part of our ongoing fire system upgrade in school, we were delighted to welcome Ben the electrician, who took time to show the pupils the tools he uses and explain the units involved in his work. This real-life connection made the learning especially meaningful and helped the children see how measuring skills are used beyond the classroom.
