Primary 6 pupils from Kilrea and St Columba’s Primary Schools spent Friday morning at the River Bush Salmon Station finding out what had happened to the little salmon which had hatched in their classrooms.
They fished in tanks to try to catch some of the fry and the parr and then they winched up some smolts.
Unfortunately there were no adult salmon in the trap but we had a lovely walk along the River Bush and saw some small fish jumping from the water.
Luckily the weather was kind and while we investigated the health of the river we wished our little fish well as they head off into the Atlantic.
