Mrs Young’s Retirement
At a special assembly this week we celebrated Mrs Young, who retires after an incredible 26 years of devoted service to Kilrea PS.
P1-P4 had a presentation and sang to her. P5-7 shared their favourite memories and P7 had a final sing-along with her. She was presented with flowers, treats and a beautiful memory bear, made by Mrs Nadine Arbuthnot-Cassidy. Then Mrs Katrina Arbuthnot presented her with a cheque on behalf of the parents in school. Past members of staff and Mrs Young's family came along to her special assembly and it was a very special event for us all.
From her legendary cleaning to the laughter that followed her, Mrs Young has been the heart of our school. She never walked past a muddy footprint—or a child needing a pick-me-up—without jumping in to help.
More than a cleaner, she has been a friend, a ray of sunshine and a cherished member of our school family, building warm relationships with pupils, staff and parents alike.
Mrs Young, thank you for your hard work, humour and kindness. We wish you every joy in retirement—whether that means adventures in Australia, time with wee Daniel or simply bleaching everything in sight!
Kilrea PS won’t be the same without your sparkle!
