Love of Learning Assembly, Stars of the Week and Friday Notices

15th Jan 2026

Today, Mrs McCombe led a whole-school assembly focused on our school value for this half term – Love of Learning.

During the assembly, pupils heard the inspiring story of Helen Keller and the determination she showed to learn and make progress, even when learning was challenging. Mrs McCombe reminded everyone that we are learning for life, not just for school.

Pupils reflected on how learning is a privilege:

  • We are healthy enough to come to school

  • We are safe and supported

  • We are surrounded by friends

  • We are given opportunities to learn new things every day

We also talked about how learning takes effort, helps us grow, and supports us both now and in the future. Pupils were encouraged to pursue their dreams, work hard, stick at things when they feel tough, and enjoy the learning journey.

Throughout this half term, staff will be looking out for children who show a real love of learning by:

  • Asking thoughtful questions

  • Being curious and enjoying new ideas

  • Trying new things

  • Keeping going when learning feels hard

  • Taking pride in their effort and progress

We are looking forward to celebrating lots of fantastic examples of a love of learning, with certificates being awarded and many pupils hopefully visiting Mrs McCombe’s office to proudly share their learning successes!

Stars of the Week

Congratulations to our stars who received certificates for having a wonderful attitude towards their learning and showing lots of determination!
