Happy Retirement Rev McCormick

18th Feb 2026

Celebrating 40 Years of Dedicated Service

On Wednesday, we held a very special celebration assembly to honour Rev McCormick and to thank him for his incredible 40 years of service as Chairman of our Board of Governors.

The assembly began with our Primary 7 girls, who led a fun and engaging 1% Club-style quiz, getting everyone thinking and involved. Following this, our Primary 1 boys and girls presented a selection of items, challenging the audience to find what they all had in common. Well done to Miss Young, who was the first to spot the connection — the number 40!

Our Primary 7 boys then shared a thoughtful reflection on the many significant stories in the Bible that feature the number 40, reminding us just how meaningful this number is.

Using the letters of KILREA, we highlighted the many ways Rev McCormick has impacted our school community over the years, recognising his leadership, commitment, and care for everyone in our school family.

The whole school then came together to sing “The Blessing”, a heartfelt moment as we expressed our gratitude and appreciation.

As a token of our thanks, Rev McCormick was presented with a small oak tree, symbolising that “from strong roots, great things grow”, and a beautiful rose named “Warm Wishes.” These gifts reflect exactly what we wish for him as he enters retirement and begins an exciting new chapter in his life.

We thank Rev McCormick for his faithful service, dedication, and the lasting legacy he leaves at Kilrea Primary School. He will always be part of our story.
