🏍️ Mrs Cooper Leads an Engaging Road Safety Assembly 🚦
Mrs Cooper led an exciting and interactive assembly all about road safety. As we entered the hall, the sounds of racing cars and motorbikes filled the room while images played on the screen. We closed our eyes and imagined what it would be like to be at the races! Pupils were asked if they had been to, or were planning to go to, a race event.
We learned that although racing is about speed, the most important thing riders know is safety first ✅. Mrs Cooper reminded us that safety is just as important for us, especially when we are out and about on the roads, and that we all need to be road smart.
We were introduced to three fun characters — Speedy Sam, Racer Riley and Careful Casey — and took part in our very own KPS NW200 race 🏁. We talked about the protective clothing riders must wear, such as helmets 🪖, gloves 🧤 and jackets, and learned about race safety checks, including checking bikes, inspecting the course, following rules and keeping everyone safe.
After our race, we discovered that Careful Casey was the only winner, as he completed the course safely and correctly 👏.
Mrs Cooper ended the assembly by reminding us of important road safety rules:
- 🚗 Always wear your seatbelt
- 🚶 Find safe places to cross the road
- 👀 Stop, look and listen
- 🦺 Wear bright or reflective clothing
- 🛡️ Use protective gear when needed
- 🤝 Stay close to a responsible adult
It was a fun and informative assembly that helped everyone understand how important it is to stay safe on our roads.
