Assembly with Miss Steele and Shaun the Sheep
A big thank you to Miss Steele who led this week’s assembly, assisted by the mischievous Shaun the Sheep! She shared some of Shaun’s funny antics and used them to remind us how sheep can sometimes get themselves into tricky situations — getting stuck in hedges, wandering off, or simply being a bit silly.
We learned about the important role of a shepherd, whose job is to look after the sheep. Miss Steele explained that shepherds around the world may work in different ways depending on where they live, but they often carry a staff or crook to help guide and protect their flock.
She also reminded us that sheep and shepherds are mentioned many times in the Bible. Jesus is often described as a shepherd, and we are described as his sheep or flock. Sometimes sheep can get lost, and Miss Steele told us about the parable of the Lost Sheep, where the shepherd goes searching for the one sheep that has wandered away because he cares so much about protecting it.
We were encouraged not to behave like Shaun when he is being naughty, but instead to try our best to make good choices.
Finally, there was a reminder about Accelerated Reader (AR). Miss Steele challenged everyone to really push on with their reading and continue improving their word counts. She also announced the pupils in each class who currently have the highest word count so far this term – a fantastic achievement!
